Summer Fever

I've got summer fever.

I am so excited for it to be summer. We will miss our first place and are a bit sad that we never got to enjoy our yard since the whole time we've lived here it's been snowing. We were planning on doing a garden in the back and also were excited to see it get all fixed up with sod and such. Our apricot tree would've been nice to get fruit from too, although there are quite a few bees that love it too.

BUT, to have a break from work and get outside more often (with sun!) will be delightful, especially in our new place with air conditioning, no mold or peeling paint, closing cupboards with space to stand things upright (I will take a picture of our cupboard with cleaning supplies and stage an attempted cereal box before we leave), and most importantly, a dishwasher! I can't wait to move there in one month and two days! It will be grand indeed.

This is a picture I took on our honeymoon last year when we went on a hike. I really love it and it's been my computer background for a little while. It just makes me feel like summer.

Spring cleaning & other changes

So for those of you who don't already know, Nick got into Business school at BYU so we will be in Provo at least another 18 months. He will most likely graduate December 2012 which is not too far away!

We had been thinking we wanted to find another place to live starting in May for a while, but this past week we put the plan into action and when I saw the ad I knew "this is the place!" So we went and looked at it, got an application, then after I filled it out while he was driving I dropped him off to take a test and then drove back to the place to turn it in. We set up a time to meet with the landlord two days later and voila! A new place starting May 15th/16th. It has everything we were looking for and we are very stoked.

The day we saw this ad (Monday) we put an ad up for our place and we already have 3 people very interested - one who filled out the application yesterday and emailed it back to us and we are pretty sure they'll get it.

It's been a great Spring time and in light of us having to show our place it motivated us to clean up our spare room. It is organized for the first time since we've been here and now it'll all be shipped out in just a few short weeks again. However, this time when we move I'll be starting summer vacation from my job instead of starting it so I will probably have it all organized a lot sooner.

Also in other news I finally finally finished this looming project from work. The yearbook. I took (nearly) all of the pictures (minus the professional ones), did the layout, backgrounds, typed in names, & bylines, etc etc etc for the entire yearbook all by myself in about 4 months in my spare time. I am pretty proud of myself. Although last night was an odd Friday night spending about 3 and a half hours doing work at home finalizing the stuff (it was the deadline...) and then watching Vertigo with Nick. It was a huge relief to finally finish it though. One less thing to stress me out at work!

Future Plans

I have been thinking a lot lately about what the heck I want to do with my life - in many different ways too. What degree do I want to get and from where? What do I want to use that degree for?? When do I want kids? In 10 years what do I want to have accomplished or done?

I have two paths right now that I'm thinking about as far as schooling goes and it depends mainly, though not solely, on whether or not Nick will be at BYU for Business School or not (we find out in a few weeks!).

Path 1 - If Nick is accepted to Business School at BYU we'll still be in Provo so I will probably go to UVU and study towards their Community Health Bachelor's degree. It kind of encompasses the Nutrition aspect of what I enjoy and the idea I had of implementing that nutrition hobby into a class for the community or public.

Path 2 - If Nick transfers to UofU we'll be up in Salt Lake and I will probably go to UofU as well and I really really really am interested in their Photography program. I've always enjoyed photography and tried to take "cool" pictures for fun and I enjoy looking at others' work and getting ideas. My favorite photographers' site is here. I love her style and it was her bio that got me interested in the U's photography program since that's where she went.

When we moved to Utah, one reason I was slightly unhappy was that I had gotten accepted into the photography class at the high school in Michigan and they didn't have photography at the junior high I was going to here. Now granted, they did have it in the high school I went to, but I think I had this mentality of "If I couldn't do it when I wanted to, I'm not doing it at all" teenage drama stuff.

(Nick also wants me to mention that if we go to the U, he can grow out a beard - Which I actually am rooting for.)

We will see what happens with Nick's acceptance to BYU, but I will keep you posted!
